Book Review: Between the Lines

Hi Everyone!

I read a book!  I had a doctors appointment that I needed to take something to read to so I read Between the Lines by Jodi Picoult.

I know I sound crazy but I haven't read a book since this summer and it felt so good to read again.

Do you have an author that when you read their book, you become really motivated to start reading again?

Well that author for me is Jodi Picoult Loving her books is an understatement.  If you have not read a book, I suggest looking up all her books and pick the topic that you find most interesting.

Yes that means I do not suggest reading Nineteen Minutes or My Sister's Keeper. Don't get me wrong, they are great books but they aren't ones that I suggest for your first Jodi Picoult book.

Did you know that Jodi Picoult wrote a book with her daughter?!  It was her daughter's idea for the book.  I think it is so nice that they wrote the book together!

Now on to the review!

About the Book

Here is the description from Amazon because it is really hard to explain:

What happens when happily ever after…isn’t?

Delilah is a bit of a loner who prefers spending her time in the school library with her head in a book—one book in particular.Between the Lines may be a fairy tale, but it feels real. Prince Oliver is brave, adventurous, and loving. He really speaks to Delilah.

And then one day Oliver actually speaks to her. Turns out, Oliver is more than a one-dimensional storybook prince. He’s a restless teen who feels trapped by his literary existence and hates that his entire life is predetermined. He’s sure there’s more for him out there in the real world, and Delilah might just be his key to freedom.

Delilah and Oliver work together to attempt to get Oliver out of his book, a challenging task that forces them to examine their perceptions of fate, the world, and their places in it. And as their attraction to each other grows along the way, a romance blossoms that is anything but a fairy tale.

Book Review

I was not expecting to read a Young Adult novel but it was really interesting.  I really enjoyed the book and it was hard to put down.

There are detailed pictures throughout the book that just make it so interesting!

One of the best things was I didn't know what was going to happen next.  Was he going to escape the book or not?  There were so many twists and turns.

**SPOILER ALERT**

When Edgar was introduced to the book, I was amazed by the depth that the two authors were able to create.  I would have never thought that Edgar and Oliver would be able to switch places and for it to actually work.

But I was left with the question, how did Edgar's mom react?!  Was she freaking out or was she happy for him.  At the end, I honestly didn't care about Oliver and Delilah, I cared about Edgar's mom!

**END SPOILER ALERT**

If you have a daughter that is a young adult, I highly suggest giving her the book!  It is very G rated allowing more depth from the characters!

What author makes you excited to read?

Happy Reading,
Alyssa

Pinspiration Friday #6

Hi Everyone!

Before I begin I want to remind you about my CollageIt Pro giveaway!  Make sure you enter daily!

Now, it is time for Pinspiration Friday!  If you haven't created your Pinspiration blog post yet, check out my 4 Steps To Add Pins To Your Blog

I used CollageIt for my Pinspiration collage this week and I love it so much more than what I was using before!  I was actually quite surprised by the amount I found this week because I had a lot of tests so I didn't have much time to pin!

Check out my Pinspiration this week!

The collage looks so good!  I am so happy with CollageIt!

Scrubbies

My family uses these scrubbies all of the time!  I have watched my MiMi and Great Aunt make these before but I have never actually made them myself.

Not that I really ever knew how to make them but now I do!

I need to learn how to make them ASAP!

Camera Strap

Look how cute this camera strap is!  I don't think that I would paint mine the same but there is a tutorial to show you how she made it so I can just change the pattern

If I make one, I will definitely be following this tutorial!

Basket Stand

I love my house but there isn't any storage in the bathroom.  Great sink but there is only a medicine cabinet and no cupboards under the sink.

This would look adorable and give me storage so I would have somewhere to put my hair dryer!

Definitely making this or something similar!

Placemats

I am not a big placemat person but aren't these just the cutest?!  They are so different than normal placemats.

I could definitely see them on a patio table!

Quilt

I so badly want to make a quilt...like really badly.  But its just like fondant, seems so complicated and intimidating!

This is a very detailed post about to how to make a quilt!  I feel so motivated to try it out!!

What is your Pinspiration for the week?

Happy Pinning,

Alyssa

CollageIt Pro

Hi Everyone!

I am constantly looking for different softwares that make my life easier for my blog posts.  I normally use picmonkey.com to create collages for my weekly Pinspiration Fridays (check out the last one here) but I haven't ever been happy with the capabilities.  It is just too plain and limited.

Recently, I came across CollageIt Pro and it is so much better!  I can create collages and it is super easy.  But the best part is that the possibilities are endless!

There are four different types of collages that you can choose from: mosaic, grid, center, and pile!

My personal favorite is pile because it is so different than normal collages.

Once you select your collage type, you just add your photos and it auto fills them for you.  You can move the photos around, change the number of them and add text, extremely easy!

The best part is that it automatically adjust everything.  When you change the number of pictures you want, it automatically adjusts the layout.  So easy!

Unfortunately I haven't taken many pictures lately except for my blog stuff but check out these collages that I made!  They only took me like 5 mins each and I love both of them!

Create Imagine Dream Crafts

Eric and I

Aren't they so cool?!  I am about to make the one of Eric and I my desktop because it is so cute!

Good luck!

Happy Collaging,
Alyssa

4 Steps To Add Pins To Your Blog

Hi Everyone!

Since this Friday we are having a Linky Party for Pinspiration Friday, I thought I would share how to add a pin to your blog!

Pinterest Pins

I will be honest, this took me some time to figure out how to do and every time I add them, I still sort of have to figure it out again.

Here are the steps!

1. Select the Pin and Share

Select the pin that you want too add to your blog.  In the top right corner, select "Share" and then "Embed".

You will be taken to a new page called "Button and Widget Builder".

2.  Select pin appearance

Second, select how you would like the pin to appear in your blog.  For actual pins, I suggest the Pin Widget.

Pin Options

3. Edit HTML to allow pins

Next, go to your blog's post composition page (HTML version) and insert the following code at the top of the page.

The code is the advanced version.  Unfortunately every time I use the easy version, it doesn't work.  But the advanced code does!

4. Add Pin

Copy the code on the "Button and Widget Builder" page that looks like this:

Isn't that extremely easy?!

I can't wait for Pinspiration Friday!  I hope everyone has fun finding pins to share!

I look forward to our party on Friday!

Happy Pinning,

Alyssa
